Derek Cathcart


Derek Cathcart joined First Canadian in December 2006, after having held senior management positions with domestic and global financial institutions in corporate/investment banking including TD Financial Group and ABN AMRO. Derek has had extensive experience in corporate lending, investment banking and proprietary investing activities in Canada, USA, Europe and New Zealand/Australia. He specializes in advising clients on limited recourse project finance (including 3P), mergers/acquisitions and divestitures in industries ranging from owner-managed businesses to multinational companies with respect to debt and equity financings, restructurings, business and securities valuations, and fairness opinions.

Mr. Cathcart is a graduate of University of Western Ontario's Richard Ivey School of Business, where he received an Honours B.B.A. and an M.B.A. In addition, Derek is an active member of the University Health Network Research Ethics Board as well as having earned the Certified Management Accountant (Ontario) designation.

Ron Jamieson


Ron Jamieson, a Mohawk from Six Nations, has held senior executive positions in the financial services industry for ten years prior to being appointed Vice-President, Aboriginal Banking, Bank of Montreal in September, 1992. He assumed the position of Senior Vice-President in 1996 and retired in 2006. He is also the President of First Canadian.

Throughout his career, Mr. Jamieson has been active in economic development initiatives for Aboriginal communities across Canada. He has been a member of the Conference Board of Canada's Council on Corporate Management of Aboriginal Affairs, and a member of the Economic Task Force advising former National Chief Matthew Coon Come of the Assembly of First Nations. In addition, he was Chairman of the Royal Commission on Economic Matters affecting Aboriginal People in Canada, and a member of the Whitehorse Mining Initiative - Finance and Taxation Issue Group. Since 1996, Ron has been on the Board of Directors of the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards for Canada and a member of the Aboriginal Program Council for The Banff Centre.

In 2001, Mr. Jamieson accepted an appointment to Co-Chair the Innu Healing Foundation. He is past Chair of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, and a recently-retired director of the Ontario Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).

In 2014, Mr. Jamieson was awarded both the Order of Ontario and Order of Canada in recognition of his lifelong commitments to First Nations.

Paul Robinson, HBA, FICB, MBA


Mr. Robinson is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of First Canadian Property Investments Ltd. Mr. Robinson has had a 40-year career in corporate finance that has included various senior positions at Bank of Montreal in Toronto, Montreal and New York. In 1981, he was a co-founder of First Canada Securities, an IDA member securities dealer focusing on debt and equity markets. In 1984, he co-founded First Canadian, which has specialized in private placements and infrastructure financing since its inception.

Since 2008, Mr. Robinson has been active in assisting First Nations in the financing of land claims litigation, and in the development of capital projects on both reserve and Traditional lands. Recent capital projects include alternative energy projects, and potable and wastewater improvement initiatives.
